Abstract:
Despite the changes in the teaching-learning process that occurred during and after the pandemic crisis lockdown, the teacher-centered instruction, currently recognized as “traditional” teaching-learning path still has a great weight in many Mathematics courses taught in the first years of Higher Education Institutions (HEI). As a result, many students may continue to perform below expectations in Mathematics because of this teaching approach, lose interest in the subject, and eventually give up on learning it. Consequently, as one tries to counter this tendency, one of the most difficult tasks is determining how to boost students' performance and enthusiasm towards Mathematics, particularly among those who struggle with deficient basic math skills, since it is recognized that students' satisfaction influences their motivation, which is a key psychological aspect in their performance. This paper will describe the strategic development of a Mathematics online project that arose as a need to improve learning and increase the levels of success in Mathematic courses in a HE. It aims to enhance Mathematics Education, creating a learning environment aligned with real needs of the students, in which they can learn at their own pace, motivating and encouraging them to overcome their difficulties, and giving them more confidence. It is a whole learning environment that provides innovative resources and carefully constructed materials. This project, developed in partnership with other agents of the educational system, aims to motivate students to enjoy learning, taking advantage of all the potential that the new technologies present as a support instrument in the different stages of teaching-learning at different levels and areas of knowledge, particularly in Mathematics. The presented study was conducted based on a sample composed of 110 students. According to the findings, most students believed that this online project significantly increased their involvement and competency in Mathematics learning. Keywords:
