Abstract:
STEM education places an emphasis on teaching Science (S), Technology (T), Engineering (E), and Mathematics (M) in an integrated manner, and is regarded as the forefront of today’s education. In Thailand, it has become a new trend and a fruitful area of research. However, few information technology research studies have been reported comparing to other areas of education, particularly in the software development context. This paper presents the integration of STEM education and software development by using an experience at Phetchaburi Rajabhat University as a case study. Based on the agile software process model, web-based learning system, object-oriented analysis and design and blended learning, a model and a PHP-based prototype system were developed for this experimental study. The heuristic evaluation was particularly conducted to affirm its applicability, as well as the user evaluation. The results revealed that the integration was applicable and the user satisfaction towards the prototype system was statistically highly.
