Abstract:
This paper introduces an innovative example about how modern 3D-Technologies can be used for teaching computer control discipline, that is, discrete-time feedback control for dynamical systems. Using 3D-Technologies for teaching computer control provides a better learning experience to the students, enhancing their competences in digital technologies such as CAD, CAM, CAE and PLM platforms. This work also shows how to use digital technologies from an industrial PLM platform for designing discrete-time feedback control systems for a mechatronic application. Using an Industrial PLM platform permits to develop competences in collaborative work on virtual environments and concurrent engineering, both of them closely related to the Industry of the Future (IoF). Advantages of using a combination of both 3D-Technologies and systems engineering techniques are presented, opening a new line of possibilities to the students for virtual simulation, virtual commissioning, for creating new dynamic control techniques, etc. These competencies and new techniques enable to improve the employability prospect for students of engineering studies/degrees and foster the future students’ interest about these studies.
