Abstract:

Worldwide, the diagnosis of autism formally begins at the age of 3 years and it is characterized by the existence of alterations in three main areas: social interaction, communication, and behavioral, cognitive and interest flexibility. It is essential to have access to an education that is adapted to the abilities and specific needs of each person with autism. The treatment for Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in the educational environment contributes to improve and support the child's learning and development. In the State of Tabasco, in 2011 the Law on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities was published, and it is one of the two entities in the country that has a general Law for the Attention and Protection of Persons with Autism Spectrum Condition. In Tabasco approximately 0.3% of the population from 0 to 19 years old has this condition. The Resource Center for the Integral Attention to the Autism Spectrum (CRIAT) specializes in this disorder and its relative attention capacity is from 0.006% of the population, that makes evident the lack of educational centers specialized in ASD students. Therefore, an education and treatment project was developed according to the behavioral profile of the user. For the development of the proposal, normative criteria, the analysis of analogous cases and research information were taken into account. The result is a Comprehensive Center for Autism Spectrum Disorder that will allow children with this condition to learn and integrate to lead an autonomous and productive life.
