Abstract:
The IES (Instituciones de Educación Superior: Institutions of Higher Education) have incorporated evaluation processes because of globalization. In Mexico, the CIEES (Comités Interinstitucionales para la evaluación de la Educación Superior: Inter-institutional Committees for the evaluation of Higher Education) are in charge of the inter-institutional evaluation. The evaluation considers aspects such as dropout, terminal efficiency, and degree, which allow knowing the results of the educational program and its quality. Dropping out affects TE (Terminal Efficiency), which is considered within the categories to be evaluated by the CIEES. The UJAT (Universidad Juárez Autónoma de Tabasco) records statistical data on the reasons for dropping out, however, these are very general and the diversity of causes has not been analyzed. Currently, the dropout rate has increased in the EP (Educational Program) of Architecture. The purpose of the study is to know the causes that students present, which could be factors that cause low performance and in some cases dropout. Studies recognize the existence of different models and theories that seek to explain the phenomenon of dropout; these theories are classified into five types: psychological, social, economic, organizational, and interactional. This phenomenon is related to the particular situation of each IES and the characteristics of its location and population. The method used was a mixed method with a qualitative and quantitative approach, as well as field and documentary research based on generational cohorts. The results show that the factors with the highest statistical index correspond to lack of vocation, reprobation, moving to another entity, and economic reasons.
