Abstract:
Many universities conduct Student Feedback on Teaching or Student Ratings. These results of these student ratings or evaluations are not merely used as feedback to faculty but also for personnel decisions for assessment on teaching competence of faculty, promotions and tenure. Therefore, how students give feedback is important as it will affect its reliability, validity and affect its proper use. The author will explore literature on the use and abuse of Student Feedback on Teaching. A survey will also be conducted amongst Asian students to find out what qualities they consider important and their bias, preferences and attitude when they give feedback on teaching. The author will then make recommendations on the proper use of Student Feedback on Teaching so as to avoid abuse.
