CHILD TRANSITION FROM KINDERGARTEN TO PRIMARY SCHOOL AS EXPERIENCED BY A KINDERGARTEN TEACHER

Abstract:
The contribution focuses on the personality of the kindergarten teacher and their professional skills which are reflected in the child's readiness for primary school education. It describes the preparation of children for their start of school education in terms of the context of the time, composition of children in the classroom, but especially in the context of the personality of the kindergarten teacher. The paper presents results of a questionnaire survey conducted with kindergarten teachers (n = 118), and the view of kindergarten teachers on the transition of the child from the kindergarten to the primary school is mentioned. It also discusses the issue of factors which influence this view. Furthermore, it also answers the question of the importance that kindergarten teachers give to preparation for primary schooling, what it should focus on. Finally, it lists a set of personal predispositions and kindergarten teacher prerequisites they should acquire in order to be ready to prepare children to start primary school education.Keywords:
