Abstract:
The aim of the study was to determine the current state of selected social risks among young people in Slovakia. The research was conducted using the "Questionnaire for the research of values, basic worldview questions, free time, social threats, and casualness when using information technology" (Pospíšil, 2020). A total of 2,447 respondents aged 15 to 20 participated in the survey. The distribution of the sample was 32% male and 68% female. The socio-pathological phenomena we surveyed focused on the frequency of computer gaming, the perceived threat of social networking sites, and the experience with alcohol, tobacco products, and other addictive substances. We have also focused on the gender comparison of these variables in the research sample. There were significant differences between groups in computer gaming, perceived threat of social networking sites, and smoking. The results of the questionnaire served as a basis for the creation of alternative ways of educating social pedagogy students at the university - e.g. storytelling, living book, methodological manual and so on.
