Abstract:
School education at all levels reflects the dynamic development of society and responds to the potential need for modifying and upgrading education strategies and approaches. Health education plays a vital role in school education. It reflects on the health dimension of education specified through objective knowledge. Its outcome is an education strategy that takes into consideration medical, biological, psycho-social, pedagogical, ecological, information, and other approaches. Various adverse health and lifestyle parameters proved by empirical research in the significant part of the Romany ethnic group and the related social-pathological and health problems in Romany children (pupils) from a socially disadvantaged environment emphasize the need for an intentional and systematic reflection of the effectiveness of health education. The present paper discusses health education as an integral part of the primary school curriculum for the sake of improving cognitive, communication, motor, and psycho-social aspects of the personality of Romany pupils from a socially disadvantaged environment.
