Abstract:
When the new corona pneumonia epidemic is raging around the world, schools are shutting down, educators are facing a huge challenge: how to ensure student learning and interaction without face-to-face contact and lack of daily comfortable classroom environment?

According to data provided by UNESCO, more than 150 million students worldwide have been affected by the epidemic. The teaching method has undergone tremendous changes, from offline lectures to online teaching, which also leads to a smooth transition to the new teaching activities only by teachers who are proficient in digital technology, which means that teachers’ digital literacy is raised. With the assistance of information technology, teachers should implement processes such as synchronized video, online assessment, and cooperative learning.

In the process of online teaching, the difficulties faced by university foreign language teachers are as follows: unable to understand students’ learning effects in time; unable to guarantee students’ classroom participation and attendance; unable to adapt to the transition from offline to online changes caused, no changes in curriculum design lead to low teaching efficiency, etc.

The article discusses the differences between traditional foreign language teaching and online foreign language teaching; analyzes the problems encountered by university foreign language teachers in online teaching; describes how university foreign language teachers optimize curriculum design and use digital methods to improve students' learning effects.

The author of this article discusses the digital literacy that university English teachers should have in the context of online teaching; proposes a combination of teacher explanation and flexible use of network resources; how to design teaching courseware and curriculum structure to enhance students' interest in learning; and to strengthen teachers' online classroom control ability through certain compulsory means; and how to stimulate college students' interest in foreign language learning.

As a result of the study, the author believes that university English teachers can improve the quality of the on-line class and ensure the learning efficiency of students by considering the following points when designing their courses:
- The improvement of college foreign language teachers' digital literacy,
- The improvement of university foreign language teachers' innovative ability,
- Use Internet resources to enhance entertaining of on-line courses,
- Increase the participation rate of online class students through quizzes,
