Abstract:
Onboarding in organizations is understood as a process through which the company welcomes new employees and teaches them the essential concepts they need to know to take on their new role. This can range from rules and procedures to technical training or safety procedures, among other things. Given that in recent years onboarding processes have been supported by converging technologies such as virtual reality, artificial intelligence, chatbots, blockchain, among others, this study analyzes precisely the evolution and research trends on the integration of converging technologies in organizational onboarding. Using a bibliometric and scientific mapping approach, an analysis of 1,091 documents indexed in Scopus, corresponding to the period 2004–March 2025, was carried out using Bibliometrix and SciMAT. The results show sustained growth in scientific production, with a notable acceleration since 2016, coinciding with the expansion of corporate digital learning. Concepts such as workplace learning, e-learning, employee training, skills development, and digital learning ecosystems emerge as central thematic nuclei, showing how onboarding has been progressively conceptualized as a structured training process that combines technologies to facilitate adaptation, learning, and early performance. Strategic analysis reveals that onboarding has evolved from traditional induction practices to models based on converging technologies, incorporating digital tools, immersive environments, intelligent automation, and interactive resources that enhance the new employee's learning experience. This study provides a comprehensive overview that guides both the theoretical understanding of onboarding as an educational process and the design of organizational strategies supported by emerging and converging digital technologies. Keywords:
