Abstract:
During recent years, the addition of game mechanisms to education has gained a relatively large amount of attention. The prisoner’s dilemma is a classic problem on Game Theory often used as an example on that subject, but also as an example of the decision making processes that necessarily appear in the professional carriers of any degreed worker. We take this game as our start point, and we apply subtle modifications to create a set of games to be actively used by students in classroom, in order to be used as educational resources suitable for different areas of expertise and subjects not only for improving the transversal competences of students curriculum, but also the theoretical basis. A Web 2.0 platform has been developed to support the use of the games at classroom. This platform can easily be used by students with their smartphones, tablets or laptops, and it provides the lecturers the necessary support to manage and control the workflow of the game. We present the experiences carried out at some of the degrees offered by University of Zaragoza, more concretely in Degree of Primary Education, Degree of Business Management and Degree of Computer Engineering. Results are expected to provide evidence of the suitability of using games supported by TICs as educational tools in different degrees and subjects. Keywords:
