LOCKDOWN AND GLOBALIZATION, THE PARADOX OF THE XXI CENTURY (SOCIAL MEDIA: NEW EXPRESSIONS OF EDUCATION)

In the last few months, we have experienced a radical change in our ways of social interaction since the COVID-19 has requested us to “stay home”. Therefore, we have the possibility to explore the different the variety of alternatives that Internet offers to us.

The lockdown has triggered the use of digital platforms including social networks, already used before not only for passive but for interactive communication, and now with higher impact in our daily life.

The social networks have gained more importance not only for the communication and entertainment field, but for the informal knowledge, due to the massive reach at different sectors and not focusing only in a specific target.

Then, the Social Media becomes a strong tool of interactive learning.

The digital codes have brought new ways for communication with lot of advantages: faster, time-efficient, massive impact, possibility to select to be public or private access, possibility to be one way or interactive, in real time or recorded, animations in how the information is posted and the most significant advantage: globalization.

Additional to these technical advantages, the new generations have huge interaction with the digital platforms and feel lot of attraction for this way of communication.

Since the digital platforms are the common language for the new generations, the education system needs to approach that way.

The objective of this research is to analyse and compare the different digital platforms and take the most of the advantages of each one in order to reach to the students as well as to be aware of the pros and cons of this technology and how to control these tools in benefit of the Education.

As a conclusion, we expect to define the patterns to approach the young students with their digital language, in an effective way.
