Abstract:
In modern society, software is used not only real-world problem but also overall industry. Thus software education is also recognized as an important part. To develop abilities that solve problems creatively and efficiently for using computer science and knowledge, informatics was designated as a required subject in 2015 revised curriculum in Korea. In addition physical computing was introduced to improve problem-solving ability based on real world. In this situation Arduino is a better choice to teach physical computing than other physical computing board. Because Arduino can control multiple input and output device easier. And many Educational Programming Languages were developed for using Arduino. So Arduino will contribute to achieving curriculum goal. Study for How to take advantage to Arduino for education is currently underway. But most of studies are focused on way to using Arduino. Study that Arduino is suitable to achieve curriculum goal is not progress. In this study suggest Likert scale based standard element that required in physical computing board in 2015 revise curriculum and according to this standard analysis suitability on physical computing education using Arduino. As a result Arduino have elements to achieve goal in 2015 revised curriculum but part of setting hardware have problems to achieve goal. It caused Arduino is not designed for education. So study for new platform’s Arduino is required for using actively in curriculum.
