Abstract:
The aim of the project is to conduct a critical analysis of the existing assessment model and practice in the context of best practices, national needs and global trends and subsequently develop and validate a new assessment framework for a teacher education model. This framework will encompass teacher knowledge, skills, and values within the context of reasoning and minds for quality teachers for the future who are capable of making innovative and creative assessment practices in varying contexts. Based on the literature reviews on best practices in assessment, a guiding principles for the development of the assessment framework was developed. The assessment guiding principles was then tested on the ground by conducting survey questionnaires to university lecturers and school teachers. The findings of the survey shows the gap between the assessment practice and the demand of 21st Century teaching, learning and assessment. Based on the findings and reviews of literature on 21st century teaching, learning and assessment were then used as a basis to develop the assessment framework. Validation of the framework were then conducted in two seminars to obtain views of various stakeholders on the framework. Based on the comments and feedback from the participants of the seminars, the framework was improved. Further benchmarking will be conducted with international standard and experts to improve the framework. Keywords:
