In a context of diversity of materials that stimulate the study of Chemistry, especially in basic and secondary school, educational software is one of the dearest to the students. Educational software could provide an extra motivation and stimulate the curiosity about Science in general and Chemistry in particular.
Chemical Reactions theme is transversal in Chemistry and also in students’ curricula in Portuguese School from the seventh to the twelfth years. For that reason, it was chosen to be the base of an educational software package created using html language. The software was named REQUIM (REacções QUIMicas ? Chemical Reactions in Portuguese) [1].
The software was created according to a growing scale of difficulty contents, starting in the basic and going up to the secondary level. The subthemes can be accessed in different ways: 1-by theme through a general index (e.g. Acid base reactions or Collision theory) or 2- by the topics of the year of study (from 7th to the 12th).
In order to establish more interactivity and to enlarge the target public of this software (we intend to reach not only the teachers and students but also the general public interested in this subject) it includes also some questions for consolidation of the concepts and to test the achievement of knowledgement.
