Abstract:
With the world population of 7,5 billion it has become of crucial importance to build a sustainable environment, life space and resilient future for all. Education, being an essential part of modern developed society is a cornerstone for human knowledge about the relevant information concerning sustainable development and lifestyles in harmony with nature.

The authors of the studies conducted a research based on a questionnaire composed for the 3-rd and 4-th year bachelor degree students of Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO University) with the purpose to distinguish the awareness of students about ESD (Education for Sustainable Development) and their satisfaction with the level of its implementation in their alma mater and the country at large.

The subject of the research is a questionnaire database filled in by 52 senior students of MGIMO university concerning their awareness of ESD agenda as well as its application. The study has got two limitations. The first limitation of this research is the awareness of ESD of senior students only. The second limitation is that the research is based only on one university students’ questionnaires.

The methods applied are: a questionnaire, content analysis, sampling and categorization.

The findings of this survey imply that MGIMO senior students are highly concerned about the implementation of ESD and consider it a key tool for achieving sustainable development in economic and environmental dimensions. It provides them with the relevant knowledge to encourage further on their professional skills, values and attitudes to enable a more just and resilient society for all.
