Abstract:
Self-reflection in studies appears to be a mighty driving force of self-development, motivation and competence-enhancement for industrious and conscientious students.
The authors of the studies conducted a research based on a questionnaire composed for the 4-th year graduating (bachelor degree) students of Moscow State Institute of International Affairs (University)with the purpose to distinguish the positive effects of students' self-reflection in foreign language studies as well as to identify the frequency with which they practice it.
The subject of the research is a questionnaire database filled in by 47 senior students of MGIMO university concerning their self -reflection in various foreign languages studies and the benefit they get from this practice. The first limitation of this research is self -reflection of senior students only. The second limitation is that the research is based only on foreign language studies.
The methods applied are: a questionnaire, content analysis, sampling and categorization.
The findings of this survey imply that higher school senior students find self-reflection ultimately beneficial in the studies of foreign languages. It provides them with timely self-correction, self-discipline and competence enhancement.Keywords:
