Abstract:
ORYX GTL has launched its innovative Computer Based HSE training modules and Learning Management System, giving company employees as well as contractors the chance to learn at their own pace.

Since its test launch in the beginning of March 2014, more than 700 employees and contractors have been already trained using Computer Based Training (CBT) modules at an allocated E-learning training classroom established for this purpose.
The full launch of the system where all ORYX GTL employees will be able to access the HSE training directly from their own PCs.

The Learning Management System which contains the various training modules has the ability to record all trainings performed through the e-learning portal and send reminders when certain trainings have been expired or where new trainings have to be undertaken.

A total of Eleven training courses would be available to the various sections of the company, these can vary from operational, technical as well as administrative Health and Safety courses.

The full launch of the system began by opening up two of the companies Mandatory HSE trainings for all Employees. The first being the Heat Stress Awareness Course, to give all employees the necessary awareness regarding the hazards of working in hot environments, and secondly the Material Handling & Waste Management Course highlighting the importance of ensuring all wastes within the company are segregated and disposed of correctly, as well as our responsibilities towards protecting the environment.

Training modules vary in difficulty levels depending on the criticality of the course with online assessments following to ensure all users have fully understood the information being communicated through these trainings.

As ORYX GTL strive to create a culture of operational excellence and going beyond zero harm, providing HSE training at the tip of employees fingers will go a long way to ensuring everyone goes home safely and that all employees understand their responsibilities when it comes to their overall health and wellbeing.
