Abstract:
Since 1991 the Department of Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Heritage of the Polytechnic University of Valencia teaches the Masters in Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Heritage in two years. Within the subjects taught in this master, and more specifically in his second training cycle are taught specific subjects with short duration, such as the Conservation and Restoration of Tiles.
Adaptation of teaching to the European Higher Education Area implies the use of a series of methodological and procedural strategies, in order to get that the student meets the specific competencies of each area. It also involves a change in the teacher's role and it is required an active and responsible student learning. In this context, the subject Conservation and Restoration Tiles requires a training methodology focused on the use of different strategies, where students receive both theoretical knowledge and practical skills. Content addressed are wide, because the student should dominate all the theoretical and practical aspects related to conservation and restoration of these materials as well as the capacity to judge ethical and aesthetical cuestions.
Although the theoretical content should not be a problem as teachers, it requires us to generate a specific learning methodology in order to have the maximum time for students to acquire practical skills in the field, as well as the capacity to transfer this knowledge and skills in a technical report.
The objective of this paper is to describe the experience of the training methodology model designed in this short course, through theoretical lectures and on-line resources, laboratory practices and personalized tutorials
