Abstract:
Teaching and learning are changing and we need to adapt our materials through new ages. The digital material that are created have to adapt new pedagogical and technology changes. The tool Smile and Learn is a 360 adaptive, educational platform, for children aged 3 to 12 years. Designed by lead expert educators, its content reinforces multiple intelligences, core curricular areas and language learning. Smile and Learn has been internationally awarded by the European Union, BETT Show and the MIT in Boston, featuring over 4,000 activities, in 200 apps and 250 videos. The platform is an inclusive education tool, available in five languages. Besides, it offers an analytics and recommendation system based on usage data, by deploying artificial intelligence and machine learning.

To improve the tool Smile and Learn for self-regulated learning we are working with our pilots’ schools on:
- Collecting data of use (time, progress,) of the students that use the platform.
- Updated view of groups with new features (passwords and other options).
- New and improved options included in the group menu (quick session, learning path, reports other options).
- Parents and educators can select individual content for each child for its immediate use.
- Capability to predefine content for each child according to their learning needs.
- Parents and educators can create their own learning paths or allocate other defined by Smile and Learn.
- Improvement of graphs and reports where educators can consult their children’s use and progress.

New featuring added to the intelligent platform allow us to research how students learn and how we can adapt through their needs. Also, we discussed how artificial intelligence and machine learning afford the improvement of self-regulated learning through metacognition, motivation and cognitive performance.
