Abstract:
This presentation will provide an overview of the results of a research survey carried out with online faculty to find out their thoughts on academic integrity (AI) and the AI process at Thompson Rivers University in British Columbia, Canada. The initial survey was performed in order to find out why the same few Open Learning Faculty Members (OLFMs) were reporting cases yet the majority were not.

We will show the results of the research, detail the many strategies employed to help enlighten the OLFMs and engage them with the academic dishonesty process and reporting procedure whilst delivering courses from a distance.

We will discuss our examination procedures and actions we have and are taking to ensure academic integrity in both our face-to-face testing centres and of for our online examinations.

We will share examples of some of the most interesting AI cases we have seen, show the changing pattern of the types of academic dishonesty being reported and provide you with some tips of things to look out for.

We will also consider what is happening in the wider academic community to combat cheating.
