Abstract:
The Spanish University has evolved remarkably since 2010 when the Bologna Declaration came into force and the European Higher Education Space (EHES) came into scene. One of the most important aspects in the new European Higher Education derived from the Bologna Declaration was the educational innovation. Within it, the focus was on the new teaching and learning methodologies, but also in the assessment of the students skills acquired throughout their university career. In other words, the assessment of their capabilities to develop their future profession.

Moreover, it is interesting to note the progressive and fast growing complexity of today's job market. A world in which not only the crisis but new ways of understanding work have radically altered the types of jobs at the companies. Jobs have become too complex and therefore the complementary competencies in which we form our students should also be in this way. In this sense, transversal competences and not just transversal subjects and matters must be appropriately promoted in the current University Degrees.

The aim of this paper is showing some of the experiences in promoting transversal skills acquired in the development of the Final Project in various Engineering Degrees. These Final Projects have been developed in collaboration with two relevant research institutes at the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV) and tutored by teachers belonging to them and sensitized to educational innovation. The results are very promising in both terms of university education and additional training to access into the job market. The work performed, the results and feedback from the students participating in these experiences encourage us to move forward in this line.
