The area of Human Computer-Interaction (HCI) contributes significantly to the success or failure of an interactive application. Sometimes this discipline does not have the importance that it should have in university education and nevertheless its importance is paying increasing attention in the establishment of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) bodies of knowledge.

The Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) defines Human Computer-Interaction (HCI), as "a discipline concerned with the design, evaluation an implementation of interactive computing systems for human use and with the study of major phenomena surrounding them ". It requires an understanding of the importance of the user in the development of ICT applications and systems, and implies the development of a mentality that recognizes the importance of users, their work practices and organizational contexts. Topics covered in this discipline could include methodologies of user-centered design, interaction design, ergonomics, accessibility norms and cognitive psychology. This article presents a first analysis of the skills and competences demanded in relation to the Human Computer discipline in the context of the European e-Competence Framework (e-CF). In addition, we carry out a study of the development of these competences in the Computer Engineering Degree at the University of Zaragoza.
