Abstract:
To improve academic performance, educators should actively look for opportunities to encourage student participation in the learning process. Due to the growing number of distance learning engineering students residing throughout Estonia and away from the main campus of TTK University of Applied Sciences (TTK UAS), it became necessary to develop self-paced online courses. This innovative approach allows students to delve into the subject at their own pace, according to individual schedules. By providing a flexible learning environment, these courses enable students to engage with the educational material using their preferred learning styles. This article offers insights into the technical aspects of designing and developing the innovative self-paced online course “Geometry in Engineering” in TTK UAS using the Moodle platform. The management and organization of the self-paced learning process on this platform are achieved through the customization of online course elements, including interactive content, video tutorials for solving applied problems, practice and assessment automated tests with constructive feedback, and feedback forums, providing students with personalized guidance and support.
