Abstract:
The presented paper presents the results of a longitudinal research survey. The research survey dealt with the issue of comprehensive rehabilitation of people suffering from a certain form of mental illness. The research was carried out with the support of an internal grant (UJEP-IGA-TC-2019-72-02-2). The research survey involved 20 probands suffering mainly from schizophrenia. In these patients, comprehensive rehabilitation was applied using educational approaches to the development of their cognitive and motor functions. Probands were divided into experimental and control groups. The experimental group actively participated in our educational-rehabilitation approach using psychomotor therapy. The control group participated in comparative testing only. Testing was performed before and after the intervention. The intervention lasted 6 months, 3 times a week for 50 minutes. The results of the research survey were compared and subsequently statistically processed using the Tukey HSD test at the significance level α = 0.05. The presented results point to a positive effect of educational-rehabilitation intervention of individuals suffering from schizophrenia in comparison with the group of probands of the control group. In the group, the control results rather stagnated, or deteriorated slightly.
