Abstract:
The topic of helping victims of crime is a current European topic in the field of helping professions. In the Czech Republic, the Act on Assistance to Victims of Crime was adopted on the basis of Directive 2012/29 / EU of the European Parliament and of the Council, which establishes minimum rules for the rights, support and protection of victims of crime. This law places high demands on professional assistance to victims of crime and their professionalism. Assisting professionals should be erudite enough to make their help quick, effective and efficient.

The article focuses on the evaluation of the professional qualifications of social workers in the field of assistance to victims of crime. The practical part will evaluate the data obtained in an extensive questionnaire survey throughout the Czech Republic. The most important institutions providing assistance to victims of crime were addressed. The aim is to find out what level of education the helping professionals have received and in which area. The education obtained in the field of non-profit organizations is compared with a state institution (Probation and Mediation Service of the Czech Republic). This study builds on the self-evaluation of helping professionals helping victims of crime.
