Abstract:
The study aims to investigate the techniques and methods of music therapy and music philetics and their use by teachers in kindergartens in Slovakia. While music therapy is used with a therapeutic, healing goal, music philetics is used for non-therapeutic goals. It is a prophylactic, developmental, supportive and educational using of music, e.g. in the field of education and training, social services, etc. The research involved 96 kindergarten teachers (N=96) from all regions of Slovakia. The data were collected by the Music use questionnaire - version for kindergartens, which contained a total of 28 questions. The results indicate that the most teachers know the concept of music therapy much better than music philetics. Paradoxically, in their pedagogical practice, they use music in music philetics context rather than with a therapeutic goal or intention. It has been confirmed that it is very important to educate in the field of music philetics even those who implement it a priori in practice - teachers in kindergartens. Thus, these findings have a great potential for their use in working with children within music and aesthetic education, music philetics and music therapy, or within preparation and development of future teachers and educators. Keywords:
