Abstract:

Music affects the emotional, social and language development as it affects his/her physical and pyscho-motor development. Revealing the musical talent of the children accurately and planning the music education well is a very significant issue. Because music is an art branch which the talent express itself mostly by comparison with the other artistic branches. As Kodaly says that music starts in mother’s womb and the importance of the family on music education is great. The parents of the child and the home atmosphere are some of the very importamnt elements whhich motivates him/her musical way. That’s why the role of the family is very important for revealing and improving the musical talent of the children.
In this study, the cognitive levels and awareness of the families for revealing and improving the musical talents of 3-5 years group pre-school children has been investigated. . In this study case study design which is one of the qualitative research methods was adopted. Data was collected administering a questionnaire contained open-ended questions. Descriptive analyses technique was administered on the collected data.
