Abstract:
Kazakh-British technical University is considered to be one of the best Universities in Kazakhstan.
English language is taught to students of the 1st and the 2d years.Students of the 1st year learn General English in the first semester and Academic English in the 2d semester.
Students of the second year learn Business English in the 3d semester and Professional English in the 4th semester. By the end of the 4th year students should be able to pass IELTS test with score 6.
General English aims to improve their skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing in English on topics of general interest. It includes a team project on English-speaking countries as part of the students' self-study work. Language training is communicative, interactive, student-centered, outcome-oriented and heavily reliant on students' self-study work.
Academic English consists of teaching Reading, Writing and Listening. Usually while teaching Academic English teachers of our Department share responsibilities in teaching different aspects of Academic English (team building).
Business English is designed to develop students’ English language skills for their future business careers. It is designed to raise the students’ language competence to required standards of academics and future professional needs in the business world. The course is focused on developing reading, writing, listening and speaking skills integrated with Business English content.
Students will improve their communication skills in such business contexts as meetings, presentations, negotiations and problem solving.
Students also work as a team on a semester project aimed to simulate a business environment. The project includes creating and running a mock company or long-term case studies.
Professional English is designed to further improve the students' professional English language and to build up the students' language competence in their specialist fields.
