Abstract:
Technology Enhanced learning in imparting education expanded into newer dimensions due to innovations in technology. Multimedia created its own contribution in developing new dimensions, whenever technology enabled teachings and learning are initiated. Imparting skill based design education using multimedia demands newer approach because the knowledge domains are focused on skills. Mapping or capturing of skills with in the Technology Enhanced Learning framework is a complex phenomenon. In this paper, a new approach called user interface authoring concept is suggested as the next level to the existing multimedia authoring concept, which is being widely practiced, while designing multimedia system for teaching and learning. The suggested new concept called Multimedia User Interface (MUI) Authoring facilitates the user to author the user interfaces as per his/her requirements mainly focused towards imparting skill based design education. This paper also presents the Multimedia User Interface (MUI) authoring system design with the scope of future research and its usages in skill based design education.
