Abstract:
One of the current trends in the development of virtual learning environments is personalization, which allows the content and form of learning to be tailored to each individual student.

To keep up with this educational tendency, we are also working on customizing the learning environments that we have developed at our faculty and that we use in our courses. The goal of this customization is to enrich our educational portal with functionality that would offer personalized content to students based on their learning goals, their current knowledge, etc.

Such a learning environment should also take into account the different requirements of the users, in our case teachers and students. Therefore, some time ago, we conducted a survey among the teachers and students of our faculty who are potential users of this portal, in order to explore their preferences in the area of personalized learning in a virtual learning environment.

In this paper, we present the results from a survey of university students. We focus on the materials they are most comfortable with for learning, the technologies they use most often in their studies, and the features they expect a personalized virtual learning environment to be equipped with.
