Abstract:
The current state of society is characterised by dynamic development and an increasing occurrence of unexpected events with negative consequences. Crisis managers must therefore be prepared to react quickly and use all available means to make effective decisions in times of disaster response. Information systems and application software play an important role in the context of decision support. These provide a suitable source of the necessary information in this specific environment and also provide tools usable in all phases of crisis management cycle. Future crisis managers are supposed to be able to use these tools. By training in modelling, simulation and visualisation (virtual or augmented reality), students of crisis management can learn about the effects of crisis events and the possibilities of solving them in the form of different scenarios. An equally important aspect of the use of information systems in the process of education of future crisis managers are different types of database information systems and their application software. Other possible applications of such tools in the educational process are relatively broad. Therefore, this paper examines the application of information systems and software tools in the educational process and their potential impact on the capabilities of future crisis managers. The paper also discusses the potential development, challenges and further opportunities for the use of information systems and software tools in the educational process with a focus on crisis management and civil protection. Keywords:
