Abstract:
Civil protection is an important part of crisis management in Slovakia. Extraordinary events are difficult to predict and can occur at any time, it is necessary for citizens to be prepared to react in the event of their occurrence. Civil protection also deals with the preparation of citizens to deal with emergencies, but it is necessary that citizens are interested in education in this area. The article deals with the analysis of current approaches and methods of educating residents in the field of civil protection. The supporting part of the article is the results of a survey in which the citizens' opinions on knowledge in this issue and their assumptions to react correctly in case of need were determined. It is opinions and feelings that directly affect the quality of life of citizens in the municipalities. Part of the survey was also the determination of opinions on the current state of education and at the same time on the preferred methods of education and information. Based on the results, suitable methods for education in the field of civil protection were proposed. These methods were implemented in the teaching process at the university so that graduates after completing their studies at the Department of Crisis Management could effectively educate citizens. In this way, the teaching process is also more connected with the requirements of practice.
