Abstract:
Crisis situations represent the course of phenomena and processes, which are limited in time and space and defined until the interruption of the equilibrium situation of social, technological and natural processes and systems. As a result, people's lives, the spiritual and material values of the state and its people, the economy, the environment and the functioning of institutions may be paralysed. Although crisis situation is often associated with a negative impact, their impact can also be positive in a certain area. Among the positives can be considered the need and ability of society to adapt to new changes and innovate outdated methods. The article focuses on innovations in the educational process at the University of Zilina, which had to interrupt full-time teaching due to the crisis situation associated with the current pandemic caused by COVID 19. Full-time teaching has been replaced by a distance form, which also brings changes for teachers and students in the educational process. An important part of the educational process is the verification of students' knowledge. Two platforms were used within the University of Zilina, namely MS Teams and MOODLE. The aim of the paper is to point out the benefits, advantages and disadvantages of distance learning and to compare the MS Teams and MOODLE platforms. An important part of the article is to point out their strengths and weaknesses, associated with the verification of students' knowledge acquired during their studies through tests.
