Abstract:
The Covid-19 pandemic has had a significant impact on various sectors including education. The suspension of schools created the need for distance learning. Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) were the main means of achieving the educational project. Digital platforms and digital tools have succeeded each other to meet educational needs. This article presents the digital tools and platforms used during the pandemic in Greece but also in some European countries (Cyprus, France, Spain, Romania, Luxembourg), documenting how each of them created new digital environments available for the meeting educational needs. Extensive reference is made to the different digital tools made available for use. Emphasis is placed on Greece and the way in which the educational community adopted, following orders and instructions, ICT. Among the positive results of the implementation of the of the distance learning are recorded the acquisition of digital skills by teachers and the inclusion of asynchronous education in the educational proces and among the negative results is recorded the emphasis on the use of digital of tools as such and not in the educational design of the distance learning, with the risk of disorientation from the qualitative and effective implementation of the of the distance learning. The positive and negative consequences of the use of ICT during the coronavirus pandemic are presented in order to highlight the possibilities and weaknesses of its use in education. What can be safely concluded is that ICT, constituting a significant challenge and opportunity for education, helps to creating an educational process of true quality, which improves skills of students and helps teachers in their work in knowledge and information society of the 21st century. Keywords:
