Abstract:
The outbreak of Covid-19 initially took University of Nottingham Ningbo China (UNNC) by surprise at the start of the spring semester. However, with an immensely positive response from our staff, we have managed to adapt our courses for online delivery at the Centre for English Language Education (CELE) for approximately 2,000 students. Many changes were made to course content and assessment in order to ensure successful online delivery. By using a wide variety of platforms and tools, we have created an effective e-learning environment that students want to engage with, such as interactive lessons and lectures, along with forums and quizzes. We would like to share the outcomes of this experiment with you in order to evaluate the effectiveness of our intervention. Such assessment will include an in-depth analysis of student engagement and testimonials, along with reflections of module leaders and tutors. Our experiences, including both successes and failures, might be helpful to other institutions that are considering the development of online resources that can be easily embedded into any course.
