Abstract:
Today, one of the most important tasks facing technical universities is the development and implementation of innovative technologies in the educational process that contribute to a deeper study and successful mastering of the necessary professional competencies by students. The authors of the article carried out a study, the purpose of which was to find out what means and methods of teaching and obtaining information, as well as forms of conducting classes, are the most effective, in students' opinion, and which of them contribute more to the formation of their professional competencies. The study was carried out in the form of a sociological survey by the method of electronic and face-to-face questionnaires in the period from 2019 to 2021 among students of Moscow Automobile and Road Construction State Technical University (MADI), Moscow State Technical University named after Bauman and Russian University of Transport (MIIT) of technical specialties at the bachelor's and specialty levels of education. A qualitative analysis of the results of the questionnaire, which was started before the Covid-19 pandemic (2019 - classes were conducted in full-time format), and then continued to the present in the conditions of distance (2020) and hybrid (2021) training, revealed the students' main preferences for the conducted directions of the research, and also emphasized the great importance of interactive and activity-based approaches for mastering professional competencies.

The impossibility of high-quality practical training in a remote mode prompted the authors of the article to develop a new scheme-model of an innovative methodology that provides feedback for assessing students' preparation and knowledge and uses an activity-based teaching method incorporated into the laboratory work "Diagnostics of electronic control systems for gasoline engines".

The work performed lead to a number of conclusions, some of which are given below: the activity-based approach in teaching students of technical specialties is the most effective; the hybrid format of classes promotes the active implementation of the principle of "inverted learning", i.e. when, due to students' independent preparation outside the university, the necessary time is freed up for interactive types of educational activities in the classroom.

The introduction of modern innovative techniques into the work program of technical disciplines will significantly improve the quality of students' knowledge and motivate them for further professional and personal growth.
