Abstract:
The main objective of this paper is the analysis of several campaign strategies for public information and response in case of disasters, including population training in order to educate and mobilize the local communities. Recent events in Romania have shown that risk preparedness is a very significant issue; therefore a practical and realistic risk reduction campaign is a vital part of every loss prevention program and emergency response plan. The highly destructive floods, storms, landslides occurred in the last years highlighted the need for developing projects to improve preparedness for prevention of these disasters. It is necessary to place emphasis on information to the public in the view that such knowledge will reinforce prevention and preparedness capabilities. Relevant aspects regarding the improvement of individual training and self-sufficiency during an emergency situation are highlighted.
