Abstract:
Pre-school education institutions provide qualitative services of adult and children education to the public. This diverse and complicated process is regulated by different documents, scientific researches, and experience of pedagogical practitioners. Lately, an increasing focus has been placed on strengthening interaction between the family and the education institution in many countries. Different methods are being searched how to involve parents and society to the processes of creation and implementation of education policy, various researches are being carried out in this field.

Public education is perceived not only as an integral part of collaboration system and culture of education institution but also as a part of education policy of the country. There is little direct information provided about informing the society on pre-school education and educational support. Usually, the said problems are revealed when they become related to cooperation with parents. When creating the information system concerning educational support (first of all, for parents) it is necessary to identify their expectations and the variety of needs and only then look for the content of such information and the ways of its presentation.

The aim of the research is to reveal the process of information provision to parents about education of their children at pre-school establishments and to identify difficulties the pedagogues face in the area of parent information. A standardized interview (to collect data for empirical study) and content analysis (analysis of empirical data) were applied in the research. The study is based on the concept of education organisations as open social and cultural systems whose key functions are communicative and informative. Education organisations being open for information themselves become communicative as they are able to take part in information creation processes. The research is based on concepts of social and interactive communication when social communication means sharing communication content (information) among different social groups supporting social stability of society by accepting general values and information which the said values are created on. One of the main social communication values is education as social phenomenon with the principal function – providing information is meaningful to society as a social and cultural organisation.

The research was carried out with pedagogues of pre-school education institutions. The material received during the interviews with pedagogues of pre-school establishments was analyzed in a consistent and inductive manner by distinguishing semantic units, formulating them to sub-categories and then to categories illustrated with quotes from interview protocols.

The findings of the research allowed concluding on how pre-school education pedagogues perceive the process of information provision to parents, what forms of informing are used more frequently. The results revealed the most relevant information for parents about their children and what influence of parent informing is made on their children’s achievements. Also, some difficulties of informing parents experienced by pedagogues were identified.
