Abstract:
The adaptive web-based tutoring systems are hot topic nowadays. The main aim is personalization of the learning process. The learner is on focus of the tutoring systems. This paper presents a constructive research about the adaptive e-learning systems depending of user style of learning. The knowledge of user allows providing of individual content for each student to engage them and make environment (the learning system) ease of use.
There is very important to describe the student needs and possibilities and then to act, i.e. the adaptive system respond and introducing the appropriate materials to the learner – a thorough answer and kind of material. The intelligent “tutor” (system agent(s)) has to decide based on the collected for learner data as: learning style, learner track through the topics, learner grades and offer further steps. These could be collect by track keeping agent for each learner action and state on the intelligent tutoring system. The structure of the e-content (lessons) is based on ontology.
This paper presents a constructive research model. It deals with learning style, student knowledge from one side and the learner interaction with the learning system (time of using, type of activities) from the other.
The model is called <L|ETAP>. It consists of five elements and constructs one set for learners’ identification. The elements are learning style (L), evaluation vector (E) – for learner assessment during the educational process, learner time spend on the system (T); the learner interaction with the system – type of actions (A), and control points for learning process (P).
These three elements < L|TA> return the general picture for the learner behavior during the learning process. The other two <E P> assessment and control point gives the exact level of the learner and the e-tutor offers the further topic and activities.
The analysis of collected data for each learner can predict the results. The expected effect will be the educational effectiveness.
