Abstract:
The increasing contribution of information-communication technologies into education and modern requirements to the reference level of the foreign language configure new approaches to the foreign language teaching especially of students at higher educational establishments, where skills in information-communication technologies are the main tool for getting new knowledge (a foreign language) developing new professional and cultural competences. Although the degree of methodological development of the issue is underrepresented in modern scientific publications, this defines rationale of the paper.

The necessity of resolution of revealed contradictions allows formulating the main problem of the paper. The problem is in identification of suitable aids and methods of foreign language teaching at higher educational establishments with the consideration of the requirements of the information society.

This paper deals with foreign language teaching on the basis of multimedia transformations. This is the process of the foreign language professional competence development by means of different multimedia aids and tools, which may be changed by the participants of the teaching process to transform it in accordance to the learning goals and objectives; and personal skills of teachers and students.

The foreign language professional competence is defined in this paper as capability and readiness of students for communication in a foreign language in the field of future career using all the variety of information-communication technologies.

The methodology of multimedia transformations is realized in collaborative environment where teachers and students are equal active participants of the educational process; and use different multimedia aids and tools.

Multimedia transformations of the foreign teaching process allow achieving main learning goals and objectives: formation and development of the foreign language professional competence; increasing motivation for foreign language studying; increasing students’ cognitive activity in different fields of knowledge. Therefore the methodology of multimedia transformations is an interdisciplinary aid of formation and development of students’ cultural and professional competences.
