Abstract:
Modern society puts forward high requirements to professional training of graduates of higher educational establishments. According to Federal State Educational Standards of higher education in Russia graduates must have cultural, vocationally-oriented and professional competences. They include competences in foreign languages and information technologies.
Therefore it is important to overview classical approaches to the organization of the educational process. It considers the development of new approaches to the foreign language teaching under the conditions of informatization of education with the use of modern multimedia technologies for the effective transformation of the educational process in the context of electronic education.
This paper deals with the process of education in information-communication professional educational environment. This environment is the complex of educational activities aimed to develop a personality of a student in the process of the foreign language vocationally-oriented competence formation. The foreign language vocationally-oriented competence is the competency-based model that unites foreign language communicative, technological and intercultural competences. Different educational activities in the information-communication professional educational environment aim at the process of every component formation in the competency-based model.
The main mission of the information-communication professional educational environment refers to the following objectives: the implementation of educational multimedia aids into the foreign language teaching (multimedia resources, presentations made by tutors and students), including electronic educational platforms; the organization of professionally oriented educational activities of students in a foreign language (lectures in a foreign language, webinars, conferences, workshops, discussions), including project work in the sphere of their future professional career; and the organization of vocationally-oriented extra-curricular activities of students in a foreign language (Festival of ads in foreign languages, video conference “How it works”), executing either educational or educative functions.
This complex of class and extra-curricular activities transforms not only the educational process, but students’ attitude to foreign language studying and teachers’ approach to the development of the foreign language communicative competence. As a result, according to the surveys, the discipline has gained in the ranking, test results have improved by one third and students’ participation in different events in a foreign language has increased.
