Abstract:
Currently, gender inequality in education is a worldwide problem. Even though today’s society might not want to admit that gender inequality occurs in developed and modern countries the opposite seems to be true. As the reports reveal, European Union is still struggling with gender equality and segregation. Since universities play a crucial role in supporting gender diversity and equality the authors have decided to conduct a research focused on mapping the current state of the gender equality at the Slovak universities to prove if gender inequality in Slovak education is a fact or a myth. To achieve the aim of the article, a primary research was carried out, through which female students at a selected university in Slovakia had the opportunity to express their opinion. The benefit of this research is to point out the current state of gender inequality in education in Slovakia and to propose recommendations on how to improve the quality of education by the elimination of gender inequality.
