Abstract:
Professional socialization is a dynamic characteristic of academic staff as the reform of Russian higher education is a continuous process. Professional socialization is inevitable due to changing requirements to a university lecturer under internationalization that has actualized the development of intercultural professional socialization. The main factor that influenced the intercultural professional socialization of academic staff is the need to become part of global education and research environment. Despite the fact that high level of professional socialization is in demand, academic staff often turns out to be not enough adapted to intercultural activities. Intercultural socialization is an effortful process, as academic staff have to decipher national stereotypes, learn academic traditions and discourse, and stand up to international academic integrity.

The article describes the sociocultural and pedagogical measures to promote professional socialization of academic staff.

The research objectives were to identify the factors of intercultural socialization; to create a model of intercultural socialization of academic staff; to test and evaluate the effectiveness of the model. The research methods used are modeling, testing, polling, and document study. The results measured were based on a set of criteria: motives for international cooperation in scientific and educational fields; knowledge of aspects and regulations of international interaction in the scientific and educational sphere; a personal concept of individual behavior in international scientific and educational communities development; knowledge of foreign languages for intercultural interaction in the professional sphere; academic and professional mobility; personal professional position in the global professional research and education space.

The results showed an increase in intercultural socialization of the academic staff according to all criteria in three large universities in Russia.
