Abstract:
Business and employment are constantly evolving and this process is accelerating. New products, services and technologies require new skills from employees. Learning no longer ends with leaving school. It has become a lifelong process. Educational institutions today offer various forms of meeting consumer needs for training and qualification. The learning process is already offered through various and modern learning opportunities: present in the classroom, remotely, using electronic resources and learning platforms.
However, declaring a global pandemic with COVID-19 and imposing social isolation has posed many people with the challenge of distance learning and retraining. The planned traditional face-to-face trainings had to be transformed into distance learning (online) with minimal possible difficulties for the learners. Building competence in such conditions, i.e. knowing and being able to and applying in disciplines building hard skills proved to be a challenge.
This report makes a comparative analysis between the traditional „face-to-face“ and „online“ learning in a CoVID-19 pandemic. The process of building competence in the discipline "object-oriented programming" of students from ULSIT is considered. The aim is to track how the transformation of a traditional face-to-face course affects students and what knowledge and skills they manage to master. The results of face-to-face training and online training conducted during COVID-19 were collected and analysed. A survey was conducted for the satisfaction of the learners with the distance form of education, as well as an analysis of the positive and negative sides of the two forms of education. The results of the analysis will be in the service of the university management for organizing the educational process in case of future extraordinary events. Keywords:
