Abstract:
This study introduces the "Argumentation-Based Digital Storytelling (DHA) Flow Model," an innovative approach in educational sciences aimed at addressing and resolving conceptual misunderstandings through the integration of technology. This model signifies a significant stride in leveraging the digital age's offerings and the potential of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) to enhance educational practices.
The DHA Model is structured into three comprehensive parts, each designed to engage learners in a progressive journey of understanding, analyzing, and applying complex concepts in a more relatable and effective manner.
Orientation and Preparation Phase:
The model's first segment focuses on orientating the target audience towards the fundamental principles and methodologies of argumentation-based digital storytelling. This phase is critical in establishing a foundation of trust and understanding between the participants and the facilitators. Learning objectives are clearly defined, and participants are provided with detailed information about the process, ensuring they are well-prepared and informed. This phase serves as a crucial starting point, setting the tone for active and engaged learning.
Argumentation-Based Story Derivation Cycle:
The second part of the model is grounded in the principles of Toulmin's Argumentation Model. This segment emphasizes the development of learners' abilities to connect theoretical knowledge with practical, real-world applications. Through this cycle, learners engage in critical analysis and synthesis of information, honing their skills in argumentation, critical thinking, and analytical reasoning. This part of the model challenges learners to dissect and reconstruct information, encouraging a deeper understanding of the subject matter.
Digital Story Writing Process (Digitalization):
The third and central part of the model, the Digital Story Writing Process, focuses on the practical application of learned concepts through digital storytelling. This section offers learners the opportunity to craft authentic narratives that are closely tied to their personal experiences, thereby facilitating meaningful and experiential learning.
The DHA Model has been tested and validated through various pilot studies and through digital storytelling workshops. These practical applications have demonstrated significant improvements in learners' abilities to critically evaluate and process information. More importantly, the model enables learners to apply a critical and creative approach to scientific and theoretical knowledge, transforming their understanding and interaction with complex concepts.
Furthermore, the model serves as an excellent tool for educators to facilitate more engaging and interactive learning experiences. This paper contributes significantly to the field of educational sciences, particularly in addressing the prevalent issue of conceptual misunderstandings. The Argumentation-Based Digital Storytelling (DHA) Flow Model stands out as a pioneering approach, harmonizing technological advancements with educational methodologies to deepen learners' understanding and engagement. It is anticipated that this model will not only assist in resolving misconceptions but also play a pivotal role in transforming educational practices, enabling learners to process and internalize information in a more profound and meaningful manner. Keywords:
