Abstract:
Description of the main purpose of the study. The study aimed to work out and test the programme for the development of students' psychoemotional stability of a pedagogical higher educational institution as a factor of specialists' professional training.

Brief description of the methodology. The research work started with a comprehensive theoretical and methodological analysis of scientific literature devoted to studying and developing a person's psychoemotional stability.

Studying the psychoemotional sphere of a person, scientists consider the individual's psychological, emotional, and psychoemotional stability.

In the research works of S.K. Kobaz psychological stability is considered through indicators of endurance and resistance of an individual to stressful influence. G. Selye, G. Lazarus, M. Bornewasser, R. Burns devote their works to the study of stress resistance. P. Fress studies a person's sensitivity to emotional situations and his ability to self-esteem and control during this period.

Studies of the personality's emotional stability were carried out by Russian scientists: V.M. Pisarenko, L.M. Abolin, O.A. Chernikova, L.M. Mitina and others.
The problem of the development of psychoemotional stability was studied in the field of sports psychology (L.M. Abolin, B.A. Vyatkin, O.V. Dashkevich, etc.); aviation psychology (V.L. Marishchuk, K.K. Platonov, V.A.Plakhtienko, etc.); engineering psychology (K.M. Gurevich, P.B. Zilberman and others), educational psychology (V.I.Dolgova, D.V. Ivanov, O.O.Kosyakova, E.M. Semenova, etc.).

In the research works of Yu.A. Tsagarelli, psychoemotional stability is defined as the ability not to increase psychoemotional tension in extreme conditions. The definition given by Yu.A. Tsagarelli became fundamental in the study conducted at Stavropol State Pedagogical Institute. One hundred twenty students took part in the experimental work.

Research findings and their implications. At the experiment's ascertaining stage, all the diagnostics of psychophysiological properties, psycho-emotional states, and psychoemotional stability of students were carried out using the hardware-software complex Activatiometer - AC-9K developed by the international research and production association "Acceptor" (Kazan).

Based on the diagnostic results, the programme for the development of psychoemotional stability of students of a pedagogical higher educational institution was developed. The programme includes muscle relaxation exercises; formation of self-regulation skills of psychoemotional states, stability of psychoemotional states; psychological preparation for activities in extreme situations; training of noise immunity.

At the end of the formative stage of the experiment, the experimental group recorded a positive dynamics of psychoemotional stability; a significant increase in all indicators of stability in the background situation and the stability of psychomotor activity in extreme conditions; reducing the negative impact of a stressful situation on self-control; an increase in the number of connections between reflection and self-regulation.

The experiment results confirmed the effectiveness of the developed programme for the development of psychoemotional stability of students - future teachers.
