Abstract:
The author points to the pre-senior education bases, which he understands as an essential tool for increasing life's quality in older adulthood. Education is an indispensable part of preparing for retirement, and it represents one of the assumptions for active ageing. For this reason, the educational programme of pre-senior preparation should reflect the educational needs of older adults. The objective of this article is to identify important topics for pre-senior education and name some challenges for this part of education. In his article, the author also presents a pre-senior educational programme proposal, which focuses on the needs expressed by older employees in Slovakia.
It was prepared by analyzing educational needs of older people, studying strategic documents and also by inspirations - examples of good practice from other European countries. The programme covers four crucial areas, which participate in creating the curriculum of the pre-senior education programme. The article is the output from solving the research task VEGA no.1/0001/18 called Preparation for ageing and old age – possibilities of andragogical intervention.
