Abstract:
The contribution presents selected documents, mainly of national character, related to the issue of active ageing in the United Kingdom (higher score of Active Aging Index) and Slovakia. During their analysis, the author focuses on issues of social and educational policy in connection with the older adult generation. The author points to the similarities and differences in the individual countries’ approach to active ageing and highlights aspects, in which the policy in the United Kingdom may serve as a good example and an inspiration for solving the problems of older adults in Slovakia. The author perceives the whole issue in the context of non-formal adult education where he sees great potential for older adults. The contribution also points out the key aspects that can be used in further scientific research in this area. The contribution is published in the framework of the research project VEGA No. 1/0001/18 entitled Preparation for Ageing and Old Age – Possibilities of Andragogical Intervention.
